BIOGRAPHY

Raised on everything from jazz, pop, movie soundtracks, and seasoned folk singers, to classical greats, gospel/christian artists, and singer-songwriter’s of the 70s, Susan's first memories of musical upbringing is a kaleidoscope of sounds.

By the time she was five, Susan had already begun playing the piano by ear, and at 6 started lessons.  She also tried her hand at cello, viola, and guitar, but settled on piano and voice.  Susan started writing her first original songs in high school, but it wasn't until she moved to Nashville in 2004 that her songwriting really started to flourish.

While studying at Belmont University, Susan received the Ronn Huff Endowed Scholarship for composition from renowned composer and arranger Ronn Huff.  Huff's encouragement helped to solidify Susan's passion for writing and performing. Susan graduated in 2008 with a Bachelors of Commercial Music, Composition and Arranging Emphasis.

Inspired by artists such as James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Jamie Cullum, Sara Bareillis, Jonatha Brooke, Dave Barnes, KT Tunstall, Foy Vance, Andy Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Quincy Jones and Bruce Hornsby, Susan's writing is fresh and full of eclectic flair. Her songs are anything but typical, with a depth of lyric and musicality that offer a unique take on life, love, and faith.
